About

Biography

Tejas Nair with sitar

A composer with roots in Indian Classical Music, bringing counterpoint and classical form to bear on the ragas and talas of the East.

In his works Tejas Nair brings his training in counterpoint and classical form to bear on the ragas, talas, and the multitudinous forms of Indian music, resulting in unique musical expressions, often written for mixed ensembles featuring Indian and Western classical musicians.

He is enthusiastic about teaching and feels deeply about sharing the richness of music with others — guiding beginners in keyboard improvisation and vocal music, and introducing Indian music to classical and jazz musicians, including leading workshops and group classes.
